World Superbikes Review

The World Superbike Championship visited Donington Park on at the end of March and beginning of April and the racing was close and very exciting. In the first race, James Toseland got a terrific start and with Troy Bayliss raced ahead at the front. Bayliss was leading but then lost control of his bike and fell into the gravel trap at Copice. Toseland kept his cool and his nerve to register a win, which sent the Donington park crowd into raptures. After the race it turned out that Bayliss had seriously injured his fingers and was taken to hospital. This injury forced Bayliss to miss the second race of the weekend and had his injured finger amputated. Further behind it was excitement all the way through the field with ride of the race going to Max Biaggi who rode his Suzuki up from seventh to third in an aggressive ride.

In the second race, Toseland raced to the front but was being closely followed by Haga and a string of other riders. Sadly Toseland's Honda suffered a reliability problem right in front of the DPRAC supporters enclosure. There was however a race to be won and Haga was able to ride his Yamaha to the flag, followed by Biaggi with another splendid ride on his Suzuki.

Below are some pictures from the weekend. All photo's are taken by Richard Cox or Nick Wade.
